Lakota Family

$325.00

The creation of a native Shoshone woman from Minden, Nevada, these handcrafted dolls are made from natural materials: real human hair and rabbit fur. She also paints traditional native symbols on the robes. This family measures 14" tall, 8" wide, and 7" deep.

The Lakota were part of the Sioux or Siouan. They were the most western of the Sioux tribes. Warfare was a means of achieving high social status and the capturing of enemy horses.

The quality of materials and time is very important; from the moment of forming their bodies to attiring them in handpainted leathers and furs, every step is different as each piece is individual, from creating their hair, skin color, to giving them the first breath of life. This piece goes with blessings, and may your life be blessed in return.
