This 12" square Huichol cuadro is made of many, many colors of yarn pressed into beeswax with a bit of pine resin applied to the base to hold the yarn in place. The ancient culture of the Huichol people is expressed in the designs utilized in their artwork and the story of the piece is told on the back in Huichol. This image shows shamans preparing for the peyote festival.
